The management team has a strong background and relevant experience in lasers, engineering, manufacturing and high technology sales.
Samir Ellwi, Vice President - Strategic Technology
Samir joined Powerlase in 2001; bringing 20 years experience in laser applications with the last 15 years of his career being in the semiconductor / EUV related arena. Prior to Powerlase, Samir worked as a senior member of staff at the research group at ASML, a well renowned lithography stepper manufacturer. He has worked for well-established academic institutions and in industrial environments in the field of laser fusion, x-ray lasers and EUV sources in United Kingdom, Germany, France and the Netherlands.
He is currently leading the EUV technical and business strategies at Powerlase. He is also responsible for product management and applications.
Matt Kelly, Head of Engineering and Operations
Matt has over twelve years experience in design and manufacture of opto-mechanical and opto electrical products. Before joining Powerlase in August 2001 Matt worked with Solartron Metrology, a Roxboro / Ametek company, as a design engineer working on measurement interferometers and Sortex Buhler, a design engineer/project manager working on optical sorting machines.
Matt has played a key role in the conceptual design, engineering and manufacture of all of Powerlase’s core products. In his current role Matt is responsible for the manufacturing and engineering teams.
Mike Mason, Vice President - Technology
After ten years at Imperial College London, Mike joined Powerlase in August 2001 with a PhD in High Power Lasers. During his time at Imperial College, Mike successfully completed projects on high power laser systems at the University of Würzburg in Germany and the Rutherford Appleton Laboratories in Oxford. During his time at Powerlase, Mike has been directly involved in the development of the Starlase product range from conception. In his current role, Mike runs the Development and Design group in charge of new product research and product development. Mike also manages the company’s intellectual property and patent portfolio.
Kevin Reardon, Head of Sales and Business Development
Kevin joined Powerlase in March 2007; with 18 years commercial sales experience with high technology capital goods in both the semiconductor and laser systems field. Prior to joining Powerlase, Kevin was from 2000 Managing Director at New Wave Research Ltd where he was responsible for significant growth within Europe. Additionally in 2004 he was appointed Sales Director for New Wave Research Inc implementing strategic plans that enabled sustained growth within the USA. New Wave Research is a leader in compact Nd:Yag lasers and with Kevin’s involvement changed the business model to become a leading systems supplier into the Geochemistry and Semiconductor market.
Prior to New Wave Research, Kevin held various sales Manager and Director positions at Wentworth Labs gaining extensive experience in Europe; Asia and the USA
