Powerlase Announces Record Year-on-Year Growth of 400%

POWERLASE Limited, manufacturers of the world’s most powerful nanosecond Q-switched, diode-pumped solid state (DPSS) lasers, today announces record turnover for the financial year ending December 31st 2006. Following growth in 2005 of 233%, turnover has increased 400% in the last year, from £2.4 million to £9.5 million.

Over the past 12 months, POWERLASE has strengthened its position as a global laser supplier through the development of dynamic distribution channels. The company now enjoys direct and channel operations in Mainland Europe, Korea, Japan, Taiwan and China. These relationships are now playing a significant role in consolidating and further strengthening the laser technology innovator’s market reach in Europe and Asia, whilst providing the much-needed local footprint that allows customers quick and easy access into POWERLASE sales, applications and technology contacts.

Taking advantage of current market and applications opportunities, POWERLASE has demonstrated significant business success in the Flat Panel Display (FPD) market with penetration into both the PDP and LCD Markets. During 2006 POWERLASE received significant orders from market leaders Samsung and LG Electronics.

Additionally, the laser innovator continues to develop products and applications for future markets, which are already yielding opportunities and results in Japan and China. In 2006, POWERLASE commenced work with the University of Central Florida (UCF) to drive innovative breakthroughs in the field of Extreme Ultraviolet Lithography, which will further the development of high-power laser produced plasma (LPP) EUV source. The industrial collaboration between POWERLASE and UCF is set to produce the opportunity of the next-generation of clean and cost effective laser-produced plasma.

Company comments

Tony King, POWERLASE CEO, comments; “2006 has firmly put us on the Global map. This solid base will serve us well as we look to the opportunities facing us in 2007 and beyond.”

“This growth was, and will continue to be, driven by our targeted and dedicated customer-focused approach, combined with our laser system application expertise. This is underpinned by our world-class laser technology and product development. Our success has in no small part been made possible by the excellent work with, and the response by, our suppliers who have quickly come to terms with the dynamics of this fast moving market sector’’.

“We have demonstrated leadership in not only the FPD and LCD markets, but have also opened up significant opportunities in several other markets, with visibility of a very healthy pipeline for 2007 and beyond. Allied to this, our laser technology teams have established a footprint in future markets through our work with the UCF, which will result in a cleaner and more cost effective LPP laser produced plasma in the field of EUV. This strategic technology is vital for the production of Semiconductors in the 32nm, and smaller, range.

“POWERLASE growth is also being driven by our commitment to a controlled expansion of our global presence. Our partnerships with world-wide leading distributors and the establishment of a permanent presence of POWERLASE offices in South Korea will continue to bring us success and recognition as the premier supplier of high power lasers in our chosen industries. It is an exciting time to be at POWERLASE.”
